Press Release Closure of bankruptcy proceedings, Changes in the Board of Directors and SupervisoryBoard The decision by the county court in Völklingen to close bankruptcy proceedings regarding the assets of Saarstahl AG comes into force today. The shareholders of Saarstahl AG, the Saarland (26.8 %), AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke (25.1 %) and Saarstahl Treuhand GmbH (48.1 %) have unanimously decided in an exceptional general meeting today to continue the business in accordance with § 274 section 2 figure 1 of the shareholding law. In a meeting of the Supervisory Board today, the Board was re-elected. Mr. Hans-Günter Herfurth was elected Chairman of the Board. Dr. Klaus Harste has been newly elected to the Board. In the general meeting which took place afterwards, the members of the Supervisory Board were elected. Ms. Bettina Altesleben (DGB Landesbezirk Saar), Ms. Eleonore Neumann (Chairwoman of the Workers' Council in the Neunkirchen Plant), Ms. Waltraud Wolff (manager with power of attorney and special representative of the KfW for the German steel industry), Mr. Hans Ringwald (trustee in bankruptcy till now) and Mr. Otfried Forssman (till now Chairman of the Board) are new members of the Supervisory Board. Mr. Werner Corbe, Mr. Anton Forster, Mr. Rudolf Heimes, Mr. Wolfgang Siegel and Mr. Gerhard Wack are no longer members. In the constituent meeting of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Otfried Forssman was elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Furthermore, the Supervisory Board has taken a decision regarding investment for the continuous casting area SO in our LD steel making plant. This investment is a considerable contribution towards ensuring the long-term future of our company. The discharge from bankruptcy will come into force on 11.12.2001. Effected are for example products like semis for drop forgers, cold extruders etc. in quality and engineering steel grades as well as wire rods in steel cord, spring steel, cold heading and free cutting grades. The reason for the price increase lies with over proportionally increased costs, especially for raw material and energy.
