Spring steels

Pure safety and comfort

This is ensured in vehicles worldwide with spring elements made from our steel. Statistically, at least one axle in every vehicle produced in Europe is fitted with springs made from Saarstahl preliminary material. Our spring steels are used in

  • Suspension springs (cold or hot forged)
  • Clutch springs
  • Brake accumulator springs
  • Springs in luggage compartment opening systems
  • Engine valve springs
  • Stabilizers
  • Our wire rod is also used in track construction (rail clamps).

Our product range includes SiCr and Cr steels (each with or without V). We also produce wire rod based on AFP and carbon steels for the stabilizer segment. We have developed special grades with improved corrosion and toughness properties for applications in the area of vehicle suspension springs. Through pure innovations such as mechanical soft reduction (MSR), (double) thermomechanical rolling (TM or DTM) and the customization of alloys, we support current developments in the automotive industry including that of ultra-high-strength springs for electric mobility.
