SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar (SHS), in partnership with the Europa-Institut/University of Saarland, welcomes numerous business partners and experts from science, business and politics to the “German-Russian Raw Materials Dialogue on the Saar” on 14 and 15 June. The venue is the blower hall (Gebläsehalle) at the Völklinger Hütte World Heritage Site.

Film ab!

Saarstahl´s new image film now available online

The final shots have been taken and the post production is complete. Saarstahl´s new image film is now finished and can be seen online. This production was an enormous task to show all the fascinating aspects of one of the world´s leading steel companies. The film took a great deal of commitment and creativity from members of the SHS communication department have been searching for interesting and unusual images in order to shoot a memorable film for Saarstahl. We can now say: Mission accomplished!

Saarstahl AG and Mapudo GmbH are presenting themselves together for the first time at the “Wire”

At the specialist trade fair “Wire”, which starts in Düsseldorf on April 16th, Saarstahl AG, leader in the manufacture of wire and bar steel, will present itself for the first time together with its new partner Mapudo GmbH, an independent online platform for the purchase and sale of steel and NE metals. SHS Ventures, the venture capital company of the Saarland’s steel industry, acquired a share in Mapudo GmbH in 2016.

Key figures for the business year 2017 for the Saarstahl Group

The Saarstahl Group looks back on an overall successful business year 2017. During this period, the facilities for bar steel and wire rod had very good capacity utilization throughout and record quantities could be achieved at all locations. Shipping volumes increased yet again to a higher level than the previous year.

Tim Hartmann is appointed as the new Chairman of the Management Board of SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dillinger and Saarstahl – Further personnel-related decisions have been taken

Following the announcement of Dr. Michael Müller (63) and Fred Metzken (62) at the beginning of February that they are going to withdraw from the operative business as of 31 August 2018, the committees of the Supervisory Board of SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co KGaA (SHS), Aktien-Gesellschaft der Dillinger Hüttenwerke (Dillinger), DHS – Dillinger Hütte Saarstahl AG (DHS) and Saarstahl AG held consultations regarding the succession and passed the corresponding resolutions in their respective meetings on 8th and 9th March. At SHS level, Tim Hartmann (49) was appointed as Chairman of the Management Board of SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar with effect from 1 September 2018 for a period of 5 years. Mr Hartmann will also take on responsibility for Finance. Furthermore, it was resolved to reappoint Dr. Bernd Münnich and Peter Schweda as Members of the Management Board with effect from 1 January 2019.

Müller and Metzken decide to withdraw from the operative business of SHS, Dillinger and Saarstahl and prepare for the change of generations with Tim Hartmann

Dr. Michael Müller and Fred Metzken informed the Board of Trustees of the Montan-Stiftung-Saar trust in its first meeting of the year at the beginning of February that they will retire from the operative business in the course of 2018. Dr. Michael Müller will therefore resign from the post of Chairman of the Management Board of SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar (SHS) and Fred Metzken from the post of Spokesman for the Management Board of Dillinger and Saarstahl and of Member of the Management Board of SHS as of 31.08.2018.

Social plan negotiations at Saarschmiede: Socially responsible workforce adjustment – A large proportion of employees will remain within the Saarstahl group

The management and employee representatives of Saarschmiede GmbH Freiformschmiede (Saarschmiede) have concluded a works agreement/social plan for workforce adjustment as of 1 January 2018. The agreement has been made against the background of a decision taken in autumn to restructure the production capacity and facilities due to a lack of capacity utilisation and, in connection with this, to reduce the workforce of 850 employees by approximately half.
